After the success at the big screens, Marvel wants to conquer the realm of TV-shows as well. Their first step was The Agents of SHIELD series, which airs on the American TV channel, ABC, and will continue its story next fall with season three. Agents of SHIELD retained the light and humorous tone of the movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but comic geeks knew already that like most of the characters from DC comics, Marvel also had its fair amount of heroes with a darker tone.

Because Marvel's parent company, Disney, wouldn't have allowed R rated movies to hit the theatres, Marvel had to circumvent Disney's reputation.

They contacted Netflix about several TV shows, that would still be part of Marvel's Cinematic Universe, but would contain all the blood and violence that these street fighter heroes deserve: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist all got their own shows, and later will unite their forces a la mini Avengers style, and there's also a remote chance that they would appear in Avengers 3, fighting Thanos.

The first season of Daredevil already came out on Netflix, and it was a huge hit. Comics fans and casual viewers, not to mention critics, absolutely loved this gloomy side of the Marvel Universe, and Charlie Cox was superb as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. the Daredevil. After the great reviews, Marvel was quick to announce that season 2 was on its way, and it looks like it will have all the tools that are needed to exceed the quality of season 1.

First of all, the appearances of Elektra, Daredevil's lover, and Bullseye, another arch nemesis of the hero, have already been confirmed. If rumours are true, for the latter role none other than Jason Statham has contacted the creators, and every indication is that the showrunners would also love Mr. Statham as the iconic villain, Bullseye.

And now another news bomb exploded about season 2, after it has been confirmed, that Jon Bernthal would join the cast as Marvel's number one antihero, The Punisher. Mr. Bernthal is most famous for his role in The Walking Dead, as Rick Grimes' police partner. Lately he also played in Wolf of Wall Street, and in Fury, a WWII movie that also featured Brad Pitt and Shia Labeouf.

Because he has already played immoral, badass characters in his characters, it is fair to say, that Punisher's role has landed into the right hands, which just makes us want to watch season 2 already, that's coming out next year on Netflix.
