Children and adults alike will be thrilled to hear there is another Dr. Seuss book on the way, 28 years after the author died. Officially named "Theodor Seuss Geisel" the original manuscript for “Dr. Seuss’ Horse Museum” was found in his home, along with the 2015 book “What Pet Should I Get?”

According to Random House Children’s Books, the new book will introduce children to art, how to create it, and how to experience it.

About the new Dr Seuss Book

The new book is set for release on the 3rd of September 2019 and will have an initial printing of 250,000 copies.

It tells the tale of a friendly horse, taking a group of students to an art museum and touring the paintings. The publisher’s press release noted that “artists and non-artists alike” will enjoy the timeless theme of the new Dr. Seuss children’s book, which points out there is no right way to interpret beauty as we encounter it each day.

Andrew Joyner, the acclaimed illustrator, completed the unfinished manuscript, taking his inspiration from original sketches by Seuss. There are also photographic reproductions of well-known horse artwork by painters such as Alexander Calder, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock and more.

Many of Dr. Seuss’ best-known characters will be making cameos throughout the book, including the Grinch, Horton the Elephant and the Cat in the Hat.

The press release quotes Cathy Goldsmith, Seuss’ former Art Director, who is overseeing the publication as saying she “fondly remembers the days when "Ted” came into the offices of Random House to deliver his latest work.

He even read the latest story to their staff in a conference room. Goldsmith said reading the new manuscript took her right back to those days and that she is honoured to be involved in bringing his work to today’s children.

About the discovery of the Seuss manuscript

The book will have a publisher’s note at the end, revealing insights about the discovery of the unknown manuscript and Dr.

Seuss’ sketches. It also covers the author’s love of modern art, along with information about artists represented in the book and the creative process of Joyner.

Susan Brandt of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, said the new children’s book will entertain children “as only Dr. Seuss can” and went on to say the story is sure to inspire conversations about how we all view the world around us. Brandt added they “happily expect” many children to start asking “What do YOU see?” after viewing Dr. Seuss’ latest creation.

Netflix and ‘Green Eggs and Ham’

As noted by CBS News, news of the new book comes as Netflix teases a 13-episode animated adaptation of the beloved Seuss book “Green Eggs and Ham.” Ellen DeGeneres will be producing the series which is set to start streaming in autumn this year.

Michael Douglas and Adam Devine, among others, will be voicing the series, which will feature Guy Am I and Sam I Am going on an adventure to attempt to save an endangered animal, the “Chickeraffe,” from a zoo. Along the way, the unlikely pals will learn about friendship, hope and, naturally, green eggs and ham.
