Nightflyers” was initially aired in December last year on the SyFy channel. Now the science fiction series, based on the novella of the same name by George R.R. Martin, is heading to Netflix for UK viewers to enjoy the show.

As reported by entertainment.ie, Martin, 70, will be acting as an executive producer on the show, which will stream on Netflix on 1 February 2019. Set in 2093, the series follows the adventures (and misadventures) of a group of scientists and a telepath on board a space ship with the name The Nightflyer.

‘Nightflyers’ heading to Netflix on 1 February 2019

Season 1 of “Nightflyers” has 10 episodes to binge watch. Set in 2093, a group of eight scientists is on board an advanced ship by the name of Nightflyer with a powerful telepath, together with a reclusive captain and a small, tight-knit crew. They head off on an expedition out to the edge of the solar system, hoping to discover and make contact with alien life. However, what seems to be that contact is what makes things go horribly wrong for the scientists as a series of violent and terrifying events happen to them, leading to them questioning each other.

As noted by The Daily Edge, Jeff Buhler is the showrunner for the show and hopes there will be a second season.

He told The Verge that when he pitched the story, he also pitched it as a journey encompassing more than just one season. He said George R.R. Martin’s novella outlines the plot of season 1 and leaves viewers and readers in a “place of mystery.” Buhler believes there is room to dig more deeply into the world of the Nightflyer.
