The first two seasons of the Netflix Original seriesStranger Things” have been a hit with viewers. Now Netflix is teasing a filming location for the third season, complete with a familiar face and a new character.

On Monday, Netflix uploaded a fake commercial for a typical 80s style shopping mall in Hawkins, Indiana. It looks like Steve Harrington (played by Joe Keery) might have a larger role to play in season 3, as he is revealed to be working at an ice cream parlour, along with a new character, Robin (played by Maya Hawke).

‘Stranger Things’ and Hawkins, Indiana

The town of Hawkins is where we have seen monsters and the supernatural in the scary place known as the Upside Down. In the first two seasons of "Stranger Things," we have been introduced to Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) a girl who was raised and experimented on in the Hawkins National Laboratory and who now has telepathic and psychokinetic abilities.

We have also met her friends Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) and a new addition to season 2, Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink).

Other stars include Will’s mother, Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), Police Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and other teenage characters like Steve Harrington. Now it turns out that we will meet a new character in season 3 of the Netflix series.

Netflix teaser shows a new filming location

The cheesy teaser video starts with the words, "Earth, America, Indiana, Hawkins" and then takes us on a tour of the brand-new Starcourt Mall in the town in which so many weird, wonderful and just plain scary things happen.

Looking like it comes straight out of the 80s, the mall has everything for shoppers. In the mall, people can visit Sam Goody and The Gap, or head to the food court. In that food court, we see Steve, serving up ice cream scoops at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop with the new character, Robin.

Judging by the teen’s expression as he says “Ahoy!” it seems he might not be totally happy with his new job.

However, iNews ponders whether Robin could now be a new love interest for pining Steve. Watch the teaser trailer below.

As Steve has proven to be a popular character with fans, especially after giving Dustin advice on girls before a school dance and also pining over the loss of Nancy, “Stranger Things” producer Shawn Levy has said he will definitely have a larger role in season 3.

As reported by the Independent, Levy spoke at a recent event in Los Angeles, where he said viewers will see more of Steve and that they wouldn’t be “abandoning the Dad Steve magic." He wouldn’t say more, not wanting to reveal too much about the upcoming season.
