Being traded is one of the hardest things a player has to deal with in a sports team play. It is even harder when you are considered as the face of the franchise. Chris Paul’s departure during the summer showed that the Clippers were ready to move with Blake Griffin as their new star player.
Goodbye Los Angeles, hello Detroit
However, that’s not the case when they’ve traded Blake Griffin earlier today. Yes, the multiple all-star and athletic power forward of the Clippers has played his last game in a Clippers jersey already. A lot were shocked with the decision made by the management, especially the Clip fans, but not the basketball experts.
It is evident that this is not the best year of the former Oklahoma Sooner’s standout. Due to some setbacks and injuries, his numbers went down drastically. Also, he is trying to adjust his game as Chris Paul was the main option and facilitator for the past years. On the other hand, Detroit sent Tobias Harris which is one of the candidates for Most Improved Player of the year. Included in the trade are the defensive specialist Avery Bradley, versatile big man Boban Marjanovich and few drop picks.
DeAndre Jordan on the move?
With that said, the Los Angeles Clippers are now in a rebuilding stage. There’s no guarantee that their centre and all-star DeAndre Jordan would even stay until the end of the season.
As reported weeks ago, there are a lot of teams who are considering acquiring the talented big man. The reigning eastern conference champions Cleveland Cavaliers are the frontrunners in getting Jordan.
Another all-star might be switching to another place in the name of Kemba Walker. Unlike Griffin, Walker is still entering his prime and not injury plagued.
He is fast like a cat and can finish with both hands. The only weakness in his game is his defence. It might be attributed to his stature as he is literally a small guard. But that can’t be used as an excuse since he is considered as a franchise player.
The Brow and The Celtics
Anthony Davis is still a trade rumour magnet. It was stated that the Boston Celtics are interested in acquiring him but there are no official reports yet from Danny Ainge or the Celtics front office.
Assuming that the Celtics pull the trigger on this trade, then the rest of the league should take notice as Celtics will surely be favourite in the east, unless they trade their young guns Tatum and Brown. As for the biggest rumour last week, Kawhi Leonard is not going anywhere and it was already confirmed by the Spurs Management.
