More moves

On top of these transfer day deals, we are still expecting moves from Leicester City to bring in Adrien Silva from Sporting Lisbon.

Apparently, the English club has appealed to the FA for a two-hour extension to ensure the signing of the Portuguese forward.

Also expected to leave Leicester City is Danny Drinkwater, who is supposedly close to agreeing to terms with London-based team Chelsea F.C.

While this may have been a blockbuster summer spending transfer window, with a world record fee being paid by PSG to Barcelona for the services of Neymar, it is worth noting those transfers that fell through the cracks.

Transfers that were not completed

Speculation surrounding Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez having been pursued most of the transfer window, with Manchester City looking ever more likely to sign the Chile-born forward. However, Arsenal was determined not to let their star-man leave to a rival team, and so Sanchez remains at the Emirates.

A possible move to Arsenal was the signing of Thomas Lemar from Monaco. Arsenal had today lodged a club-record £92m offer for the Frenchman's services, but negotiations broke down shortly after.

Staying in London, but moving to Chelsea, we look at Ross Barkley's proposed move from Merseyside to London. Official reports claim Chelsea lodged a £35m bid for the Englishman.

Barkley was due for a medical at Stamford Bridge but decided to do a U-turn and reject the opportunity to play for the current English Champions.

Quickly moving across to the Red side of Merseyside, Liverpool’s attempt to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk was not meant to be. Early in the window, Southampton made a complaint to the FA in regards to how Liverpool approached their star defender, with Liverpool backing off - but not for long.

Towards the end of the window Liverpool picked up interest in the Dutchman, as well did a handful of other Premier League clubs. But the Saints remained firm that their prized possession would not become another Southampton/Liverpool transfer.

Stay tuned for more transfer day news as it comes through.
