The Duchess Of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, and Prince William announced that they are expecting their 3rd child. The Kensington Palace confirmed today through Twitter that the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant.

The statement said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child”.

The new baby will be fifth in line to the British throne and, according to the Kensington Palace, the Queen Elizabeth II is very happy to be expecting another great-grandchild.

The Duchess of Cambridge cancelled her commitment at the Hornsey Road Children's Centre in London today.

And, in order to rise their royal workload, Kate Middleton and Prince William decided to move back to London.

As with Kate’s past pregnancies, which she expected George and Charlotte, she is dealing with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which is a complication during pregnancy characterized by severe nausea that causes weight loss and dehydration. But, according to the Palace, the Duchess is receiving the cares she needs in Kensington.

In accordance with the gynaecologist and obstetrician, Mr Mahantesh Karoshi, the women who experienced Hyperemesis Gravidarum in the first pregnancy are probable to experience this condition again in consecutive gestations.

Furthermore, Mr. Karoshi mentioned that the risk of being hospitalised in consecutive pregnancies tend to be low, however the morning sickness tend to increase and be worse than in previous gestations.

Additionally, the gynaecologist and obstetrician added that, as Kate is now older than she was during her first two gestations, she may see some changes during her third one, such as the belly may look much farther due to the repeated extension of the abdominal muscles.

Possible Names

Since George and Charlotte are both the names of previous British monarchs, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge will possibly select a name for the new baby with royal heritage.

In case the baby is a girl, it is very likely that the name will be either Alice or Victoria, in accordance with bookmakers Betfair.

The royal couple is thinking of naming the baby Alice since it was Prince Philip’s mother’s name, as was Queen Victoria’s daughter. Furthermore, this name has a special significance for Kate since, whilst she was at university, she wrote a dissertation on Alice in Wonderland.

And the name Victoria would be due to Britain’s second-longest powerful queen.

In case Kate and William have a baby boy, Betfair says that they will name him either Arthur or Henry. The name Arthur is because it is Prince William’s second name and Henry is the name of eight former kings of England plus it is also the correct first name of Prince Harry, William’s brother.
