Thomas Markle, the father of the newest member of the Royal Family hit the headlines once again this morning when he did an interview for "Good Morning Britain". Although told by both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to avoid the media during their engagement, Markle once again ignored their advice in his latest interview.
Piers Morgan made it clear in his own interview on "This Morning" that the royal family were unaware of Markle's interview for "Good Morning Britain". Phillip Schofield asked Morgan "Did you keep it quiet because the palace would have shut it down?" as quoted by the Express, to which Piers Morgan replied "Yes."
Father and daughter
During his interview, Markle reminisced about his relationship with the Duchess as a child.
He told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid how he had nicknamed his daughter 'Bean' after her favourite fairy-tale "Jack and the Beanstalk."
Thomas Markle also told the hosts about the code he and the Duchess had used when talking about Prince Harry. Markle's conversation with his daughter was quoted on Sky News when she had told her father "Of course we'll have to call him 'H' so no one knows that we are talking about Harry."
Sky News then went on to quote from Markle's "Good Morning Britain" interview, in which he said, "He's a prince, but my daughter has been a princess since the day she was born." Although Thomas Markle appears to be a loving and caring father, some might argue that he does not have her best interests at heart.
In an interview on "This Morning", Piers Morgan said, "Not very much, a few thousand pounds," when questioned on whether or not Markle was paid for his appearance.
However, despite his love and support for his daughter, Markle was unable to attend his daughter's wedding due to a heart surgery shortly before the big day.
It was left to Charles to walk the Duchess down the aisle, however, Thomas Markle held no ill will towards Prince Charles, telling Piers Morgan "It might have been a treat for him as well because he didn't have a daughter."
Courting controversy
During the engagement of Prince Harry and the Duchess both Thomas Markle and the Duchess's half-sister Samantha Grant were accused of making money off of her.
This caused controversy with the media and fans of the royals who began to turn against them.
Now he has gone to the media once again to discuss the royal couple. His most controversial moment was perhaps his comments that Prince Harry may have at one point been a Trump Supporter, "I would hope not, but at the time he might have been," quoted Sky New when Markle responded to a question on Prince Harry's current political views.
Piers Morgan reacted to Markle's comments about the Duke of Sussex's view on Donald Trump, in his interview on "This Morning". The Express quoted him saying: "If I was Meghan and Harry, an exception to Harry's political views that I'm sure will get a bit of blowback, but for the rest of the interview, I would defy them to find anything less than positive about it."
Some may feel that Markle's latest interview without the palace's blessing was controversial and question his intentions.
Markle has a reputation for using his daughter's new royal status to benefit himself, without putting the wishes of his daughter first. The palace has yet to issue a comment on Markle's interview, however, the royal family is renowned for their privacy and this may not happen.
