Furious 7 (a.k.a. Fast and Furious 7) is the newest instalment in the American action film franchise and the most successful one, having earned more than $1.5 billion at the box offices worldwide. It was also the first movie which starred British actor Jason Statham, who played the antagonist in the film. Apparently they were satisfied with him so much, that he will be back in Fast and Furious 8.
Spoiler Alert! The 7th movie followed Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel), Brian O'Conner (played mostly by Paul Walker, to whom the film was a tribute) and the rest of their gang as they returned to the United States to live normal lives.
(The team received amnesty for their past crimes in Fast and Furious 6 [2013]). The happy end however was brought to an end abruptly with the appearance of Deckard Shaw (played by Statham) a rogue special forces assassin seeking to avenge his younger brother, Owen Shaw, the antagonist of the precious movie, who was permanently crippled.
The movie starts off with a bang as Deckard Shaw kills Han, a member of Toretto's team in Tokyo and at the same time blows up the gang's house in the States. The film rolls on furiously afterwards, and although Shaw avoids capture for most of the movie, eventually he is taken into custody by Hobbs and locked away in a secret, high-security prison.
The ending already left open the opportunity to bring Statham back for the next movie, and as confirmed by the actor himself recently, he will indeed be rejoining the cast of Fast and Furious 8.
This will also make the British actor the second person after Vin Diesel to be reappearing in the next film. "I'm a newcomer, I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it's nice to know I'm going to be doing another," said Statham happily.
Rumours circulating about the next movie in the franchise include a New York setting and also talks of Eva Mendes rejoining the circus, who appeared in the second film 2 Fast 2 Furious [2003] as an undercover U.S. Customs Service agent Monica Fuentes.
