Recently disgraced UKIP leader Nigel Farage will be presenting his own brand new nightly radio show on LBC (Leading Britain’s Conversation) starting on Monday.
The show will be on weeknights on LBC
LBC, the self-proclaimed “home of political debate,” will be the station that houses the new programme hosted by Farage, which will be on every weeknight starting on 9 January (this Monday).
“The Nigel Farage Show” will be an hour long, as Farage shares his thoughts and opinions on the biggest stories of the given day, and discusses them with callers. Farage will end each show with his “Final Thought.” Each show will be broadcast live between 7pm and 8pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, either from the LBC studio in London or on the road all over the country, and in some cases heading over to Europe or America for roadshows.
Farage wants to engage with his listeners
Farage’s goal with the show is to engage with his listeners, working people, and get their thoughts on the big issues as they’ll be affecting their lives and they often get swept under the rug and ignored by the media.
LBC’s thinking is that with Article 50 and Donald Trump’s inauguration in 2017, Farage is the man of the moment with nothing but time on his hands, and what with his fame, insider information and political experience, they think he’ll be the perfect candidate to share thoughts on these issues, bring more attention to them, and share them with people.
LBC’s ratings are at an all-time high, with 1.8 million listeners tuning in weekly, making the timing for this show perfect. They claim to be the only radio station with well-known politicians on their airwaves, as Farage joins other LBC presenters Iain Dale, Nick Ferrari, Shelagh Fogarty, Matt Frei, James O’Brien, and Maajid Nawaz.
Farage has experience on LBC
Farage has stood in for a few presenters on LBC before and proved himself popular amongst their listeners, which may have contributed to the decision to give him his own programme.
Farage is excited to start work on the show, saying “this year could be tumultuous,” making it the perfect year to get him on the radio. Said Farage, “I can’t wait to start my daily show on LBC,” adding, on the topic of his opinions, “agree with me or challenge me and together we can lead Britain’s conversation.”
Managing editor of LBC, James Rea said, “Nigel Farage is the man at the centre of the two biggest stories this year,” meaning Brexit and the election of Trump, and called Farage “a powerful communicator” and “a natural broadcaster.”
