Courtney Hadwin, 14, from Hesleden, County Durham, wowed the judges on “America’s Got Talent,” and got through to the finals. However, the talented singer lost out on the grand prize of $1 million (£760,785) by a narrow gap, coming sixth in the finals on the show.
Courtney had wowed judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Mel B and received a standing ovation when she sang Tina Turner’s song “River Deep, Mountain High,” but just didn’t make it to win the grand prize.
The talented teenager also missed out on the UK’s “The Voice Kids.”
‘America’s Got Talent’ finals and Courtney Hadwin
As reported by the BBC, Courtney appeared on the finals of “America’s Got Talent” on Wednesday night after surviving the harrowing semi-finals. Readers can watch her great rendition of “River Deep, Mountain High” below, for which the young girl received a standing ovation.
Mandel told Courtney following her performance in the initial part of the final on Tuesday that she was a “superstar in the making.” Howie has praised the young singer throughout the season. Mandel gave her the coveted Golden Buzzer to make sure she went into the semi-finals.
He told her he loved her performance, adding that the whole world does too. He then said they were watching a superstar in the making.
Courtney also teamed up with an English group, The Struts, to sing a cover of the song “Piece Of My Heart, made famous by Janis Joplin. However, no matter how good the teenager was, she still lost out on the grand prize.
Hadwin last week wowed the audience and judges with her rendition of “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf.
Tyra Banks had told Courtney how proud she was that the teenager had "made it" into the final 10 with her powerful performances of songs by James Brown, Steppenwolf, and Tina Turner.
Last month Courtney slammed out "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" on “America’s Got Talent.”

It turned out that a Canadian-American magician, Shin Lim, was the one to win the finals, snagging the amazing $1 million (£760,785) prize.
The teenager also managed to get through to the finals of “The Voice Kids” in the UK and was mentored at the time by Danny Jones of McFly. Back then, her grandfather told the Mail Online that they knew Courtney would fare better in the USA than in the UK. He said the family believed that the US would “get it,” while the UK didn’t. He went on to say they all believed in Courtney and knew her singing would go down a storm in the US.
