Hurricane Lane is approaching Hawaii, with torrential rain and strong winds, some landslides and flash flooding has already hit the state. On Thursday, CBS was debating whether to halt filming of the popular show “Hawaii Five-O” and the upcoming remake of “Magnum PI.” The category 4 storm had winds of up to 150 mph, which could definitely disrupt filming, but was on Thursday downgraded to a category 3 storm.
Deadline report that CBS producers told them they are “closely monitoring” the storm, but that the safety of the cast and crew on both shows are obviously their top priority.
Hurricane Lane hits Hawaii
On Thursday, the hurricane was expected to hit Oahu, where both shows are filmed, and Hawaii Big Island, Lanai, Maui, Kahoolawe and Molokai were also placed under a hurricane warning.

As reported by the BBC today, the storm neared the islands with winds of 125 mph and torrential rainfall. US President Donald Trump had earlier declared a state of emergency for the Aloha state. Federal authorities are reportedly on standby, ready to provide supplies and support to Hawaii.
While Hurricane Lane was downgraded on Thursday, the National Weather Forecast (NWS) has said the situation still remains “dangerous” for the residents of Hawaii and major concern is being expressed over severe flooding in the islands.
All United Airlines flights to and from Maui were cancelled on Friday.
More than 12 inches of rain fell on Thursday on the Big Island, causing flooding on roads. Some roads were also closed by landslides and many images of cars trying to navigate flooded roads were posted on social media.
Premiere dates for ‘Hawaii Five-O’ season 9 and ‘Magnum PI’
The premiere date in the US for “Hawaii Five-O” is 28 September, while UK fans will have to wait until 7 January 2019. Fans will be thrilled to hear that Alex O’Loughlin will still be starring in the show, despite suggestions that season 8 would be his last. O’Loughlin has reportedly had a change of heart, or “second wind” and has decided to continue starring in the cop show.
The “Magnum PI” reboot is set to premiere on 24 September in the US and UK. Initially, fans of the original show were not impressed by what they saw in the trailer. Jay Hernandez (“Suicide Squad”), who will play the lead role, said fans of the Tom Selleck original are already worried about his lack of moustache. It is hoped that Hernandez will win them over while playing the coveted role.
