Jackson Odell who played Ari Caldwell in “The Goldbergs” has died at 20 years of age. The actor started his career at the age of 12 in “Private Practice” and has starred in several other hit TV series and movies during his short life. No cause of death has yet been released by the coroner’s office, but the actor was found unresponsive in a sober living home.
Actor found in a sober living home
Odell is believed to have died on Friday and TMZ reports that he was found in an unresponsive state in a sober living home in the San Fernando Valley of California.
Sober living homes are special group homes used by those who are recovering from addiction problems. The Los Angeles coroner said that no suspicious circumstances surround the actor’s death. The cause of death will be released once an autopsy had been completed.
Jackson Odell’s television and movie career
Jackson started his career at the young age of 12 by appearing in the Shonda Rimes medical programme “Private Practice.” He went on to star in several shows including seasons one and two of “The Goldbergs” where he played the role of Ari Caldwell, Erica and Lexi’s friend and older brother to Dana. He also starred in “iCarly,” “Arrested Development” and ABC’s “Modern Family.” TMZ notes that he also starred in the Film “Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer."
NME reports that besides his acting, Odell was also a talented singer and songwriter and was known for writing the soundtrack of the 2018 movie “Forever My Girl.” Lauren Alaina from American Idol sang his song “The Wings of an Angel” in that film.

Jackson’s family is mourning their tragic loss
The Metro quotes Odell’s family as releasing a statement saying they had lost their beloved son and brother.
They added that Jackson will always be a shining light and that he was a “brilliant, loving and talented soul.” Speaking further of his untimely death at the age of 20, his family said Jackson had so much more to share. They said they will always hold that truth in the future and they hoped the world would too. The family closed their statement by saying they are going to attempt to make sense of their loss in private.
As reported in an E!News YouTube video, the family said they would release no more statements.
Recent spate of celebrity deaths
Jackson Odell’s death comes in the wake of more celebrity deaths, including the recent deaths by suicide of both fashion icon Kate Spade and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain.
