Rockstar has announced that they are going to drop a new trailer for their upcoming game “Red Dead Redemption 2.” The trailer will be released on Wednesday, May 2.
This will be the third trailer for “Red Dead 2” the follow up to the hugely successful first game from May 2010. Fans have waited eight years to see what Rockstar will do next with this series.
There have been no details about what we can expect from this latest trailer. However, we have had a trailer that focussed on the game world and a second that showed up what we can expect from the story.
It makes sense for this third trailer to show us some gameplay.
The trailers so far
This trailer is going to be the first since the game was delayed until October 2018. We can assume the trailer will show us more about the new character - Arthur Morgan. We know that he is going to be part of Dutch’s gang, so we might get a shot of John Marston during his early days as part of the gang. John Marston was the main character from the first game.
“Red Dead Redemption 2” is going to be a prequel to the events that happen in the first game. This means that we can likely see the lead up to John Marston leaving Dutch’s gang and the fallout that follows.
'Grand Theft Auto' developers
Rockstar is also responsible for the hugely popular “Grand Theft Auto” series.
Rather than being set in modern day, “Red Dead Redemption” games are set in the wild west. This means that players have a very different experience than something like “Grand Theft Auto.” In the first game, players followed John Marston’s story of redemption as he left a murderous gang and tried to do the right thing. It is a deeply personal and touching story.
The game also featured an open world for players to roam around. They could ride their horse across the map, take part in side quests, go hunting, collect bounties, or play a hand of cards. This made the world feel real and it is one of the reasons it is held in such a high regard.
“Red Dead Redemption 2” looks like it is going to build on this same formula, but add its own twist to the proceedings.
The game will still be open world and have similar controls, but it has been eight years since the last game released, so Rockstar will no doubt add all kinds of new details. For many people, though, it is the story that they are interested in and that looks like it won’t disappoint either.
“Red Dead Redemption 2” is going to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 26th of October 2018.
