Melania Trump visited a child detention centre in Texas on Thursday. Amnesty International US are all "shook" up about the jacket she wore on the trip. She later changed out of the jacket and did not wear it to the detention centre itself. But media had already spotted what they thought was written on the back of it. The Guardian noted that it looked like the words were, "I really don’t care. Do U?"
CNN noted that it is a $39 (29.30 GBP) jacket from the last season of the Zara line. The media spotted the words on the jacket through their long-distance zoom cameras.
Reactions on Twitter to Melania's jacket
Expressions of outrage were immediate after the news broke. Amnesty International US tweeted, they were "shook."

The Guardian cited actor Patricia Arquette as tweeting, “Melania Trump just won worst dressed for the century.”
There were many other posts along similar lines, with countless people taking the jacket as a deliberate way to not care about children being in detention. It may have been an unwise choice of clothing, but very few people on Twitter took it as just not thinking about the venue of the day.
A spokesperson for the First Lady says there was no hidden message
CNN carried a report saying that Melania's spokesperson confirmed there was no hidden message or motive for wearing the jacket.
CNN wrote: "It's a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today's important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn't going to choose to focus on her wardrobe," East Wing communications director Stephanie Grisham told CNN in a statement."

President Donald Trump says the message was directed at media
The "I really don't care.
Do U?" message was not directed at the children in the detention centres, according to President Donald Trump. He took to his Twitter account to explain it from the viewpoint of both of them. Once again, he was quick to lash out at Fake Media, and it seems wearing the jacket was one way of doing this.
This is what Donald Trump said: '''I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media.
Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!"

The Guardian noted that it was strange that Melania Trump wore such cheap clothing as her public appearances usually show her attire to be worth thousands of dollars. They also noted that the furore broke quickly. But in the afternoon, when she returned to Andrews airforce base, she was seen wearing the "I really don't care. Do U?" jacket again, in full view of media reporters.
