Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge, gave birth to her third child, a boy, on Monday 23 April at 11 AM (local time) at St Mary's Hospital.
The baby weighed 8lbs 7oz (3.8 kilograms) and an official tweet from Kensington Palace assured that both the baby and her royal highness are doing well.
Both families were delighted with the news
The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London at around 6 AM while she was still in the early stages of labour.
The Duchess travelled from Kensington Palace with her husband, Duke of Cambridge, in a car. Both sides of the family, including The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Harry were informed about the news soon after.
The newborn Prince is currently fifth in line to the throne, after his grandfather, father and two older siblings and he is the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh's sixth great-grandchild.
The Duke of Cambridge left St Mary's Hospital at around 4 PM to go to Kensington Palace to see their older two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Prince George was at school and Princess Charlotte was in Kensington Palace while their little brother was born. The Duke of Cambridge then took the couple's two older children to St Mary's Hospital at around 5 PM to meet their little brother.
The new Prince's name is yet to be announced
A formal notice of the birth had been posted on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace, however, as expected, the baby Prince's name hasn't been announced yet. In previous years, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had announced their older children's names (George Alexander Louis and Charlotte Elizabeth Diana) a couple of days after each was born, which is why the new Prince's name is expected to be announced in a couple of days.
Even though it was only a couple of hours since the new Prince was born, Kate Middleton was already getting ready to leave St Mary's Hospital to get back to Kensington Palace. One of the reasons why she was so quick to leave the hospital is that the Duchess of Cambridge recognizes that there are other mothers giving birth in the same wing of the hospital and she didn't want to bother them with the noise caused by the fans and press that camped outside the hospital.
The royal family is having an eventful year this year. The Duke and Duchess announced the pregnancy on Monday 4 September 2017. The new Prince was born only six days before the couple's seventh wedding anniversary and only a few weeks before the royal wedding of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle.
