Philippe Coutinho appears to have played his final game for Liverpool and is keen to quit the club in the current transfer window. He is hoping to push through a move to Barcelona in January.

The Brazilian has been in great form this past year and has put himself in the shop window with his performances this season. The attacking midfielder has been in demand for a number of seasons and has been linked with a move to one of the European Giants. Barcelona came knocking for the player's signature during the summer 2017 transfer window, but the Reds were not keen to lose one of their key players.

Liverpool is in a strong financial position and doesn't need to sell. The #Merseyside club has spent a lot on reinforcements of late, with a new centre-back, Van Dijk joining for a world record fee of 75 million euro. Whether Liverpool will want to keep hold of a player that wants to leave is something that remains to be seen.

Further movements expected during the winter transfer window

There are a number of players being linked with moves to Liverpool. A number of fringe players are being linked with moves away from the club in the hope of gaining first-team football. #Daniel Sturridge and #Danny Ings are just two players that have found themselves on the fringes of the squad this season. With the #World Cup coming up in 2018 and a short time available to book places on the flight to Russia, both players will be keen to prove their fitness and improve their form in the hope of breaking their way into the squad in the coming months.

More signings

There is some talk of Liverpool making more signings as well during the window, as #Jurgen Klopp appears to have free reign over the purse strings. The club has been in great form of late, remaining undefeated for 16 games in a row, but the defensive frailties that have plagued the club over the past few seasons appear to be continuing.

Liverpool have lacked a natural leader on the pitch for a number of seasons since #Gerrard has retired. Flair players have been added and impact of these creative players has been seen in performances of late. The lack of communication and consistency in defensive performances have been evident for a number of seasons at this stage and the players and manager alike will be keen to fix this ongoing issue.

Fans may be willing to say goodbye to a hero like Coutinho, however, they will be expecting a replacement to be signed in his stead. Finding a player to gel into the team as well as the Brazilian magician may prove to be a mission impossible, but only time will tell.
