After obtaining a narrow victory against Brighton, Manchester United will face Watford tonight. In doing so, Mourinho’s team is hoping to increase the gap between Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool, once it seems almost impossible to reach the unbeaten Manchester City.
Probably, the Portuguese manager will introduce some changes on his squad, considering that the next weekend they will face Arsenal at Emirates Stadium. Moreover, he said that they “had too many attackers”, and perhaps, he will alienate less forwards during the match of tonight.
Although the last performances of the 'red devils' are not being as good as were at the beginning of the season, Manchester United is still keeping the second place in the Premier League. At least, they are showing more regularity than their persecutors.
Tottenham visits Leicester
Indoudably, this is the most attractive game of the day. Even though the ‘foxes’ are far to reach the level that made them win the Premier League two seasons ago, they are still a tough team for everybody.
Still, the 'Spurs' were the only team in that season to put in real danger the eventual triumph of Claudio Ranieri’s team. Besides, Tottenham Hotspur would like to emulate the European adventure of their rivals, when they reached the quarterfinals.
At the moment, they have already finished as first in their group, same as Leicester did during the last season. Apart from that, Pochetino’s team really need to get the three points to keep following the first four. For today, probably Lamela will play in the first eleven.
The battle for survival in the Premier League
On the other hand, Brighton will play against Crystal Palace, the team that is in the last position in the competition.
However, they were capable to win against Chelsea in one of the great surprises of the season. Nevertheless, they are in real need of getting some points, although they are doing much better in the last games.
The fourth match of the day will see a battle between Newcastle and West Brom, two teams arguably better than it shows their positions in the table.
In fact, West Brom is just one point above West Ham, and it might finish the match-day down the Londoners.
Anyway, if they won tonight, they would equal with Newcastle, who now look slightly comfortable in the 14th position. Apparently and as usually happen every year, this 'boxing day' it will be essential in the pursuit of the objectives.
