Matchday 13 in the Premier League only saw 22 goals scored this week, a pretty light tally in comparison to other weeks. Points were needed for the big teams to start getting into reach on first place side, Manchester City. The big teams like Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea could only manage to get a point.
Newcastle vs Watford
This season Watford seem like a formidable side as they are now in the top 8 and are exceeding expectations.
Under Marco Silva, they are a solid unit and many teams have struggled to beat them, but now, after getting a 3-0 victory against Newcastle away, it's inevitable that they could finish in a Europa League place if they keep their form. Newcastle sits in 13th place and is under threat as they haven't been consistent enough but have been performing well until recently, possibly because the lack of funds given to Rafa Benitez, which is why his squad are struggling. However, I do think they shouldn’t worry about getting relegated this season.
Chelsea vs Liverpool
A goal by Mohamed Salah in the second half gave Liverpool hope to win the game as both teams found it hard to break through each other's defensive lines.
Salah didn't celebrate against his old side which was fairly respectable but the Kops confidence and happiness were ended because of a Willian wonder chip, which may if been a cross, nevertheless, it ended in the back of the net as Chelsea equalised.
Huddersfield vs Man. City
Mancity narrowly beat Huddersfield 2-1 as they continue to keep their solid lead in the Barclays premier league table. Huddersfield played well and was gifted an own goal by Nicolas Otamendi while Mancity scored an early goal in the second half thanks to Sergio Aguero's penalty goal. Then, later on, Raheem Sterling scored in the 84th minute to give Manchester City the win.
Other teams results...
West Ham drew 1-1 against Leicester City.
Another match ended in a draw was Swansea City against Bournemouth, as it ended 0-0. Crystal Palace managed to beat Stoke City 2-1 due to the last minute brace by Mamadou Sakho.Tottenham was held to a 1 all draw as they struggled to create anything and didn't have an end product to some of their plays at home. Harry Kane continued his goalscoring form with a marque flick but couldn't beat a West Brom side without a manager and with a poor away record. Manchester United once again won 1-0 for the third time in the premier league. They desperately needed points and they got the job done thanks to an own goal from an Ashley Young shot. Brighton played well but couldn't score past De Gea and it was a disappointing match for the viewers as there was evidently a lack of quality and end product from both sides.
Arsenal also salvaged a point away from home as they beat Burnley 1-0 in stoppage time thanks to an Alexis Sanchez penalty. This match was a tough, physical dual as expected from a team like Burnley, but Arsenal battled well and the substitutes by Arsene Wenger were spot on. Burnley was unlucky as some of the referee's decisions were questionable. Southampton destroyed Everton 4-1 thanks to goals by Dusan Tadic, Steven Davis and a double brace by Charlie Austin. It's all going wrong for Everton as they have only 12 points from 13 matches, despite spending big in the summer.
