Wayne Rooney, 31, has recently pleaded guilty to the drink-driving offence in which he committed early this month. The ex-England star was believed to be over the limit whilst driving a Volkswagen Beetle before being pulled over by Police within the early hours of the morning.
Rooney was pictured by the press to be at a well-known bar the night before and was pulled over at around 2 AM.
According to reports from the police, the Everton forward was around three times over the legal limit, accumulating around 104 milligrams of alcohol per 100ml of blood in the body.
Rooney's Punishment
The Everton star has since received a 12-month community order, including 100 hours of community service. Additionally, the Stockport Magistrates' Court has imposed a two-year driving ban upon the ex-England forward, whilst his employer, Everton FC, will be fining him two weeks wages which accounts to around £300,000.
The 31-year-old has since released an apology stating that he wants to apologise for his unforgivable lack of judgment.
Furthermore, he goes on to apologise to his family, manager, chairman and fans for the incident which occurred on September 1st.
More trouble for Premier League star
Unfortunately for Wayne, the controversy doesn't end here. Whilst driving home over the legal limit, it was reported that the all-time England top-scorer was in fact with another woman. This woman was infamous party girl, Laura Simpson.
Simpson, 29, has seen her life being thrown straight into the spotlight when it became apparent that she was having an affair with the Everton forward. The 29-year old, and mother of one, has reportedly gone onto say share 'kisses and cuddles' with Wayne within recent times.
However, Laura Simpson has recently made an appearance on ITV's 'This Morning' where she was interviewed by presenting duo, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
Within this interview, she stated that there was no intimate relationship between herself and Wayne Rooney.
When asked by Phillip Schofield what the pair of them were actually doing and what would have happened if the Everton forward wasn't pulled over, Laura Simpson simply replied 'I would have gone home', once again insinuating that there was no affectionate relationship between the two of them.
Interestingly, during this interview, she states that because Wayne Rooney is a well-renowned footballer, the situation has been 'blown out of proportion'. Therefore, a considerable amount of the general public has assumed that the 29-year-old deems it acceptable to be with a married man. She has since taken to Twitter stating that some people are 'awfully thick', referring to the members of the public who disagree with her antics.
