Premier League sides Arsenal and Everton are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of Serie A wonder-kid, Jakub Jankto with Ac Milan leading the race for his signature.

AC Milan have reportedly pushed to the front of the queue for 21-year-old Jankto, who currently plays for Serie A side Udinese.

The Czech Republic player is mainly deployed in a central midfield role, although he is also well equipped to play wide on the left.

The rising Star is highly regarded in Italy as one of the talents of the future and has already proven that this season, by starting off the Serie A campaign in tremendous style.

Premier League sides should step up the chase

The 21-year-old has already scored two goals and provided a further one assist for his Udinese side, after five appearances for the Italians in all competitions. This means that the youngster is already well on his way to beating his personal total from last season, of five goals and four assists.

Arsenal could do with a midfield dynamo in the centre of the pitch, with both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil seemingly unhappy at the club, with Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka also under-performing.

Everton on the other hand, have started the season very poorly, conceding 10 goals in their last three games in all competitions.

This comes despite heavy spending in the summer, on the likes of £45m Gylfi Sigurdsson, such that some young-blood being signed in the January window could well help Ronald Koeman's side. Midfielder Wayne Rooney has also been involved in turmoil this week after his drink driving court case added to the gloom on Merseyside.

Starlet slots into Milan's plans

AC Milan have recently changed formations, with head-coach Montella now preferring the 3-5-2, used for the first time in their Europa League clash against Austria Vienna in the Europa league, in mid-week.

It is likely that Milan will keep this new formation, but that means that they will need a new box-to-box midfielder to fill the gaps left in the centre of the pitch by this formation.

The Italian giants already tried to sign him in the summer, but Udinese did not want to sell at the time. As a result, according to Italian report, AC Milan are expected to keep watching the Udinese star in the hope of landing his signature in January.

Milan are also said to be looking at other central midfield options, with Demirbay of German side Hoffenheim and Leon Goretzka of Schalke also reportedly on their wishlist. Milan are keeping their options open however and have also identified Milan Badelj and Alfred Duncan as alternatives from Serie A.
