As a United fan, I must say that I was really enthusiastic when I heard that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is coming to play in my team, especially after the dismal display ever since Sir Alex Fergerson left Manchester United. Zlatan, among other instrumental people, brought back a flicker of hope and somehow positive changes started to take root this season as we have won both the Community Shield and EFL Cup.
Now it seems the time is up for our public figure striker, who his former Inter Milan teammate Ignazio Abate called "the bomber." Regarding a picture of Zlatan and Abate in a private jet flying to Europe, he wrote, "With the bomber travelling comfortable and spacious...
#backhome."
Now, this was after the knee surgery on Ibrahimovic's anterior cruciate ligament which he injured in a Europa League quarter-finals in the second leg with Anderlecht. The former Sweden captain's knee buckled after landing awkwardly just before extra time. The game ended 2-1 in favour of United and was 1-1 before the injury.
Manchester United Team Spirit.
In a statement to the press, the Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho stated "We have a fantastic group of players, fantastic spirit since the beginning of the season. We spend more time travelling and in hotels than at home. We spend 140 days in hotels and that is only possible because of the spirit....Crutches for Young, Shaw, and Zlatan but we all go together."
Seeing as Zlatan is already in Europe, after Mourinho's statement he is alongside the others and will be there for the Europa finals which are a really important win for every United member involved.
A win will automatically qualify them to enter into the Champions League, so there is no need to fight for a top position. This is the reason as to why Mourinho has been using the premier league as a sort of live training in preparation for the more important Europa League.
Manchester United have their final Premier League match this Sunday, May 21st 7:00 a.m Pacific Time against Crystal Palace, and Mourinho is planning on playing a squad of mostly youngsters and give them a somewhat baptism of fire.
As he rests his main team for the Europa League Final, there are over eight named youngsters in this Sunday's match. Paul Pogba will be playing alongside them. He's been missing in action the last two matches, but now he is back from his father's funeral.
What are United Fans expecting from the 'Chosen One'
United fans want to see that players are well rested, well trained, in the right state of mind and all that is involved in making sure that management runs a successful football club.
If Manchester United get to beat Ajax in the Europa final, Mourinho will have made an awesome start to his managerial position and career in United.
We may not have Zlatan playing for us next season though as with the injury he got United cannot possibly sign him on for another season. Zlatan, however, stated that he still wants to and will play football. There are speculations that he might go to an MLS team or something of the sort. All in all, I wish him well. May he get better soon.
As for United, as it goes "Glory Glory Man United, Glory Glory Man United, Glory Glory Man United, As the reds go marching on on on!" The Europa League final takes place at the Friends Arena in Stockholm on Wednesday 24th May kick-off 20:45 CET, Ajax vs Manchester United.
