Olivier Giroud late header rescued a point at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday. The Gunners came back from 3-0 to 3-3 after dramatic finish, but they couldn’t pick up all three points. Arsene Wenger’s side showed a great character in the second half of the game, as The Cherries scored their third goal in 60th minute, the game looked ended as a contest. However, Arsenal rescued one point after goals from Alexis Sanchez, Lucas Perez and Olivier Giroud.
Arsene Wenger decided to put Shkodran Mustafi, Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin in the starting line-up.
Unfortunately for the visitors Mesut Ozil wasn’t able to play against the Cherries through injury. At the start of the game the hosts looked to press the Gunners’s defensive formation and not give them enough space and time on the ball.
Bournemouth dominated the first half
Bournemouth opened the scoring in the 16th minute of the game, when Junior Stanislas delivered an amazing long pass to Daniels, who left Arsenal’s left-back Hector Bellerin stranded and then put the ball past the keeper, Petr Cech. Few minutes later the hosts added another goal. Granit Xhaka fouled Fraser in the box and the referee decided to award the hosts penalty-shot. Petr Cech was really close to save the Wilson’s penalty-kick, but unfortunately for the visitors he missed the ball.
Second half
The Gunners started to improve their game after the break, but it was Eddie Howe’s side who had the ball in the net in the 60th minute, Fraser once again left Hector Bellerin behind and put the ball past Petr Cech. Arsenal took their first shot on target in the 70th minute, when Alexis Sanchez headed home Olivier Giroud’s pass from the close range.
Five minutes later it was 3-2, as Lucas Perez scored a beautiful left-footed volley to bring home for his team. In the last minutes of the game, Bournemouth captain, Simon Francis was shown a red card for a though foul on Aaron Ramsey and in an extra-time the Gunners was able to level the score, after Olivier Giroud’s header.
