There are hundreds of scandals in the world of Football especially when it comes to the English Premier League.

They vary from match-fixing to doping allegations to drugs and partying but the one that remains the most sought after is the elusive tales of forbidden love and rumours of affairs as we look back on a few wild footballer’s sex scandals in the history of football.

Sex and football that rocked the headlines

When it comes to everybody’s favourite Brazilian striker, Ronaldo is often regarded as one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen.

Back in 2008 the striker was caught with not one but three transvestite prostitutes in his hotel room. Once realizing their real gender an altercation broke out and the police were called and Andre Albertino one of the prostitutes claimed Ronaldo tried to bribe her for her silence. Needless to say the Brazilian media were anything but forgiving about his weekend transgression.

Enter Wayne Rooney, one of the highest profiled players in the sport and a legend amongst the youth of today. He too fell victim to a prostitute and was rocked by an unforgettable sex Scandal. It was alleged that the Manchester United captain paid $2,025 to have sex with 21-year-old prostitute Jennifer Thompson.

The most shocking revelation came that the meet and greet with the working girl came about during the time that his wife Coleen was pregnant with their first child.

The scandalous reports didn’t end there however as British tabloids continued to delve into his personal escapades and soon it was revealed by The London Evening Standard that Rooney had even gone so far as to attend a massage parlour where he had sex with a grandmother in a rubber catsuit.

Named and Shamed

Alas, it wasn’t only the English forward and Brazilian striker that rocked the sport with news of their scandals.

Defender Ashley Cole has had so many allegations of his own especially when it comes to his fidelity or lack thereof.

It’s even been suggested that his list of conquests are so great that he could form a five-a-side team with the women he has had dalliances with. The defender may have been used to being in the spotlight and after his marriage to model and singer Cheryl Tweedy hit the headlines the media’s attention only worsened.

The couple were married in 2006 but after only 4 years together went their separate ways after news of his affairs hit the newsstands.

Chelsea’s captain and defender John Terry was next to cause scandal as news broke of his alleged affair with Vanessa Perroncel. Perhaps it would not have caused such a media frenzy had she not been the ex-girlfriend of ex-teammate Wayne Bridge. Terry did the only thing he could possibly do to try stop the press and ordered a super-injunction from the British High Court to block any mention of the event in the press. Terry was later stripped of his England captaincy by Fabio Capello and the story is now one of the biggest scandals in football history.
