Manchester triumph in Europa league victory

The script could not have been wrote better, with three big games in a row planned for the red devils, in Liverpool who they drew against on Monday night, Fenerbahce tonight in the Europa league, then the special ones return to Chelsea on this coming Sunday. Surely the fans will be hoping that they can shine and show some better skill.

Tonight's game however had some heavy hitting titans in the form of Wayne Rooney for Manchester, Robin Van Persie and Martin Skrtel for Fenerbahce. This level of players was enough to suggest that this match would be anything but laid back.

First half dramatics

The first 15 minutes saw a poor display from Manchester as they didn't inspire immediate confidence. However come the 15 minute mark they began to settle in and come alive with passing of crisp clean nature and showing full skills that they had to offer. The match saw, out of favour, Matteo Darmian hitting some beautiful crosses on the right of the pitch and certainly making a bid for more game time. Rooney played well in the standard number 10 position, where he was higher up the field, supported well by Lingard and Martial.

It took to 30 minutes though to break the deadlock, when Kjaer of Fenerbahce brought down Michael Carrick of Manchester in the box. It was a wonder pass from Mata that found him but after he was brought down a penalty was given.

Kjaer also picked up a yellow card in the scuffle. However surprise of the game it was not Wayne Rooney who stepped up to take the spot kick, it was instead, after a small deliberation, Paul Pogba. The keeper Vollkan Demirel tried to put off Pogba with making him wait, so it was only fair that Pogba himself would make his run up a little special before slotting a goal in the bottom left corner, after sending the keeper the wrong way.

1-0 to Manchester.

Just two minutes later yet another pass from Mata found Martial however he was brought tumbling down in the box another penalty. Again no Rooney on the spot, but the winner of the challenge Martial stood up to take and smashed home a penalty in the same corner as minutes earlier, to make it a resounding 2-0.

46 minutes saw Pogba score again. Rooney got the ball back after some sloppy defending and found Lingard, who turned on a dime to find Pogba just outside the box to top left, not a chance for the keeper 3-0.

2nd half

It was a boring second half in fairness after the first half was filled with class, Manchester used their on point passing game to control Fenerbahce. It did see Lingard score from a good Rooney pass.

However their Fenerbahce talisman Van Persie did manage to get what he, and to be fair the United fans wanted. He managed to get a goal after toeing in against De Gea. It was a goal that was cheered for the returning star, not just by his own supporters but by United supporters too. Fans enjoyed an old favorite grabbing a goal.Manchester now six with 6 points in 2nd place in the group, behind tonight's runners-up Fenerbahce.Next game will see Manchester travel to Fenerbahce on November 3rd.
