World's best Football player Cristiano Ronaldo split up with his long-term girlfriend over row about his mum party.
Real Madrid superstar and his Russian girlfriend Irina Shayk have spent their Christmas together in Dubai. Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha claims the couple had a row during their Christmas party, because apparently Ronaldo wanted to head back to Portugal before New Year to be in his mother's birthday party, a source close to the player told the newspaper. Irina did not accept Ronaldo's wish and the Portuguese spent the New Years Eve with his son alone.
"Cristiano wanted to surprise his mum and as he spent Christmas with Irina in Dubai, he had planned to be with his mum on her birthday party, but Irina didn't want to go," the source said. "They had such a big row that he ended up spending New Years Eve alone with his son. It was the straw that broke the camel's back because they had hadn't been getting on well in the last few months"
Ronaldo and Irina, both 29, started dating in 2010 after an Armani ad meeting.
The couple has been facing news of breaking up for the last months after making several public performances without each other. Ronaldo did not appear in Irina's film Premier for Hercules. Irina also did not attend Ballon d'Or ceremony in Zurich. Ronaldo, who was joined in Zurich by his 4-year-old son, after being awarded the trophy thanked his family, teammates and his supporters in his speech but did not mention Irina.
Other sources mentioned that Ronaldo's mum Dolores Aveiro and Irina did not have a good relationship. It seems Dolores didn't think Irina would be a good pair for his son as she was always busy and away from home because of her job.
Dolores was a huge influence on Ronaldo's life as his father died in 2005 and her mother took the leading role.
