Liverpool were probably very lucky yesterday as they played their FA Cup game against Bolton. All other Premiership teams apart from Manchester United were dumped out of the competition (the other teams to lose out were Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City, respectively)

This FA cup has been another tournament where little league teams have destroyed or humbled supposedly superior Premiership sides like the example of Cambridge and Manchester United.

Bolton defence and their goalkeeper Adam Bogdan were stirling, if you will forgive the pun, as they withstood strikes from Raheem Stirling, Fabio Borini and Phillip Coutinho.

Of course Bolton had their own chances with the likes of Dean Moxey and Eidur Gudjohnsen taking shots at goal. Jordan Henderson could have had a penalty as he went down in the box thanks to Jay Spearing but it was not awarded much to Liverpool's annoyance.

Liverpool it has to be noted have been improving in the Premiership again and with the news injury hit Daniel Sturridge will be coming back soon, this news should buoy up Brendan Rodgers and the team plus fans no end. Sadly at the end of this season, Stephen Gerrard is flying to pastures new, as he sets off in the wake of David Beckham, to play for LA Galaxy.

Mario Balotelli has yet to produce anything significant for Liverpool despite his huge signing in terms of money from Series A and true Merseysider Rickie Lambert despite scoring twice for his beloved team needs to be starting more.

None of this however takes away the 0 - 0 draw that Bolton achieved against Liverpool at Anfield and for that I say well done to them.

Neil Lennon has totally transformed Bolton as a club, it was thanks a lot to his input plus the fans and backroom staff that the team did so well yesterday.

Liverpool on the other hand have been going through a very bad patch when it comes to games and until their recent flurry of success they were being beaten by the likes of Newscastle which hit Brendan Rodgers, Stephen Gerrard and the like very hard in indeed but it seems the boys in red have found their mojo once more.
