Today it’s a sad day for pop culture. Almost 40 years later, and with only one month for the premier of the new Muppets show in ABC, the famous couple announced the end of their Relationship.
In a Facebook statement, on 4th of August, the former couple issued a statement on the social networks that formalizes the relationship end. The iconic Muppet characters revealed that they are no longer a couple, ensuring that "they will be with other people, frogs or pigs.”
After the separation news from Marge and Homer from ‘The Simpsons’, and Zayn Malikand Perrie Edwards, this is one more of the many stories that have plagued Hollywood this summer.
The separation was announced during a conflicting press conference in Beverly Hills to promote the new season of ‘The Muppets’. Both Miss Piggy and Kermit were present and the tension was evident. "Piggy and I followed different romantic paths," said Kermit, who introduced himself as executive of the program.
The former couple ensures that despite the separation, they will continue to work together. "It may be difficult to work with an ex-girlfriend, especially when it is a pig. I do not know if any of you have gone out with pigs, ", he declared to the press.
The quarrel continued: "Dating with me is like flying close to the sun. Kermit was expected to hit the ground while I remain in the sky "said Miss Piggy.
“After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, we have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship. We will continue to work together on TV and in all media known or hereafter advised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe.”
Although they ended the relationship recently, according to TV Line Piggy and Kermit have been seen, already involved with other people.
Kermit is dating Denise a pig that works in Muppet marketing department and Miss Piggy has already been seen with actor Topher Grace. Sounds that she’s beat you Kermit.
No one knows for sure if it was a divorce or just the end of a dating since the Piggy and Kermit marriage was never official. In interviews, both claimed to be "married in heart."
This event takes place almost a month before the ABC premiere the new series of ‘The Muppets’.
The legendary program which announced in March its return in a documentary format – called mockumentary - in a similar format to "The Office" series. This new facet of the program will explore the concerns, dilemmas and personal joys of characters.
The new Muppets series premiere 22th of September 22 in the US channel ABC and for the first time, Piggy and Kermit are no longer a couple.
