It seems that May's been all about the confirmation of movie sequels. We have already covered the announcement of the sequels of Mad Max, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and also Project X. This list is now joined by Tom Cruise's popular franchise, Mission: Impossible.

Although the fifth movie in the franchise, Rogue Nation, hasn't even hit the cinemas, we can be sure that we won't see the last of Ethan Hunt and his crew this year. Tom Cruise's most famous character has been giving joy, and sometimes also tears, for the fans of the action genre since its very first installment that came out back in 1996.

While the second and third movies focused heavily on Cruise's main character, the fourth installment, Ghost Protocol, changed perspective, and put teamwork into the fore, making the plot more plausible. Ethan Hunt's team consisted of Jeremmy Renner, Simon Pegg and Paula Patton. Since the audience really bought into this new formula, Rogue Nation will follow the direct prequel's steps, but instead of Paula Patton we will see Rebecca Ferguson as the crew's female member, and Ving Rhames also rejoins the team for another mission that's supposed to be impossible.

The currently untitled sixth installment will be produced by Cruise himself, and also by David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and the director of the third movie, J.J.

Abrams, who also directed Star Wars Episode VII, The Force Awakens, this year's most anticipated movie that is going to hit the theatres in December. As fate, or geekly speaking, as the force would have it, Mr. Abrams newest franchise knocked out his old one.

Rogue Nation was supposed to come out this December simultaneously with the new Star Wars, but the creators decided to play it safe and moved the movie's release date back to the middle of summer.

Hence Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation will hit the theatres in the UK on 30th July. The movie will also feature Alec Baldwin and Sean Harris, the latter confirmed as the movie's baddie, but there are rumours that Mr. Baldwin will also make Ethan Hunt's life harder. The movie was directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who has already collaborated with Tom Cruise in the movie Jack Reacher back in 2012.
