The Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Dubai talked on his Twitter account about his project to create the inhabited Martian city in 2117. UAE plans to invest substantial sums in the space program, hoping to benefit not only space but also Earth.

The project, called "Mars 2117" is designed through international cooperation for building a manned mini-city. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the project aims to expand science and technology in the XXI centon Marsury, as well as to educate the desire for knowledge among youth.

"We aspire to great things, so my brother Mohammed bin Zayed and I today decided the UAE will join the global effort to send humans to Mars," - wrote Al Maktoum on Twitter.

It is also planned that in national UAE universities there will be research centers established, and the scientific and technological base of the country will also significantly increase. Al Maktoum said that the UAE are among the nine countries with the highest investment in space science.

Sheikh added that the results of research in the field of transport, energy and food security obtained in the course of the project, will contribute to improving the quality of human life, including life on Earth.

In July 2015, the United Arab Emirates established its own space agency, headed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The organization has undertaken a task to create a space probe and make the launch to Mars in 2021. As part of this project, the Center for Space Research UAE started a partnership between with Russia, the US, China and Great Britain.
