Remakes of original games
The purpose of this article, however, is to bring attention to a small piece of information that was spoken about briefly during the keynote address.
'WarCraft' is one of Blizzards oldest and most beloved franchises. The community has been anticipating a remake of the original games for years now. With petitions being created and entire forums dedicated to players trying to contact Blizzard and make their voices heard on the matter.
New content for 'Overwatch'
According to Frank Pearce, who is the Co-founder of the company, Blizzard has no current plans to ever re-release the games. Many of his reasons for saying this seemed arbitrary but the most notable reason for the decision holds a great deal of validity. According to Pearce, the game may have been entertaining for its time but by today’s standards, Warcraft: Orcs and Humans just isn’t fun to play and would therefore not be in the company’s best interest to explore at this time.
They would rather focus on creating content for "Overwatch"and "World of Warcraft."
While that may have been disappointing to many fans, Blizzard has not completely shut the door on its past. It was also announced that they have a team working on recreating the original Diablo as content that will be put into Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls.
The plan is to create a 17-floor dungeon that will perfectly emulate the original with NPC’s and story lines.
