Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane hopes to work in Bollywood, opposite Ranbir Kapoor

MawraHocane, the lovely Pakistani beauty who has taken her Indian fans by storm with a strong presence in TV shows such as Ladki Hona Gunah Nahi, Indian version of Pakistani hit show Main Gunahgar Nahin, might make an appearance in an Indian Film. On Instagram and Twitter Mawra recently posted pictures of her in Mumbai. She has been hinting at reading scripts and interacting with popular filmmakers at the film studios in Mumbai.

Ranbir Kapoor, Bollywood’s new age star recently sent a personalised message for Mawra on her Instagram, which further fuelled the rumour that the Pak beauty might make an appearance in a film opposite Ranbir.

Instagram video lasting for a few seconds, showed Ranbir blowing a kiss to Mawra, which was a big reason for any girl to go weak on her knees.

It all started when filmmaker Imtiaz Ali (director of Highway and Rockstar) learnt that Mawra was a big fan of Ranbir, he requested the actor to shoot a short video clip. Ranbir obliged and sent her a video that says, “Hi Mawra, This is Ranbir here. You are extremely beautiful, extremely talented. I hope to see you sometime soon.” Soon after, as Mawra made a trip to Mumbai, speculations on her signing a film started making rounds.  

TV show Ladki Hona Gunah Nahin was widely appreciated by Indian audience as it was about a rape survivor fighting for her dignity and combating societal pressure.

 Depicting the antagonising attitude of society and family, the TV show was very close to modern time reality that has marred the oppressive society in India and Pakistan.

Another popular show Gulon Main Rang, which is based on Pakistani novel titled Nikhar Gaye Gulabb Sare, is all set to make way in Indian channels soon.

Mawra who plays the lead in Gulon Main Rang is hopeful that she will soon have a chance to make a strong presence in India.

With increasing acceptance from the Indian fans, several cross border actors are making a foray into Bollywood. Fawad Khan and Ali Zafar have already made prominent names by appearing in popular films such as Khoobsurat and KillDil, respectively. Humsafar fame Mahira Khan, another popular actress will be seen in the film Raees opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
