Alia Bhatt has turned vegan to beat the heat. With Asian countries reeling under strong heat wave, the Celebrities as well as the local people are trying innovative eating habits to combat the scorching sun.

Alia and Aamir Khan are the latest to stop eating meat to beat the heat. Since non-vegetarian food is said to be slightly tough on human system and not easily digestible during summers, the celebrities are sticking to special diet, which are vegetarian and light on stomach.

In an interview, Alia had admitted that she has been enjoying a special plant based diet which has been keeping her fit.

The 2 States actress has now revealed that she has completely stopped eating meat so as to acquire a new look. Alia admitted that she was never extremely fond of non vegetarian food, but has now confirmed to have become a vegan. She hopes to resist the temptation of biting into a non-veg burger in the coming time.

Acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt - Alia's father -  is a well known vegetarian and has been a strong promoter of vegetarianism. Alia is the newest member in the Bhatt family to have joined him in his distinct eating habit. Mr Bhatt had inherited vegetarianism from his father and Alia's mom Soni Razdan is known to possess some excellent vegetarian recipes. Alia has been living mostly on fruit juices and green vegetables like broccoli and lettuce, which are strongly recommended for summer seasons.

She loves munching Bombay bhel and mouth-watering chaat.

Last we heard Aamir Khan turned vegan and shunned meat to get into a fit mode. He went on a special diet to put a few extra kilos for the upcoming film Dangal, which is based on the life of champion wrestler Mahavir Phogat.

There are a number of Bollywood actors who are strict vegetarian and have promoted plant based diet suitable for their good health.

Amitabh Bachchan was awarded the title of most popular vegetarian by PETA. Shahid Kapoor is yet another strong follower of vegetarianism while Vidyut Jamwal credits his vegetarian diet as the main reason for his good physique.

Actors including Kangana Ranaut, Vidya Balan, Sonu Sood, R Madhavan, Vivek Oberoi and Mallika Sherawat are some prominent members of the vegan club.
