Movie - Shaukeens

Director - Abhishek Sharma

Cast - Anupam Kher, Piyush Mishra, Annu Kapoor , Lisa Haydon

Let's start with the good parts of this not so good comedy movie; the part where Akshay Kumar spoofs himself is the best and the only highlight of the movie. You will see Akshay playing a superstar who is coincidentally also named Akshay kumar and he is obsessed with the national award while he never has won one. This forms the only interesting comedy track in the movie, the rest will leave you exhausted and you will start doubting your very reason to watch it.

Shuakeens is isnpired by 1982 Bollywood classic which goes by the same name. The original movie had Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and A.K.Hangal in the leading role while the female lead was played by Rati Agnihotri. This Shaukeen has immensely talented Annu kapoor , Anupam Kher and Piyush Mishra playing the lecherous sixty plus senior citizen , while Lisa plays a fashion designer who is loaded with oomph and sexiness to the core. As the three leading actors are immensely talents, they fortunately did not make a mockery of the lonely characters they portray.

Anupam Kher disappoints on a totally different front, he is of such a stature that more is expected from him other than what we all have already seen.; this Anupam Kher style of comedy is already seen and done to death so it fails to excite in any way.

Annu Kapoor on the other hand is too loud and his loud character portrayal makes you irritated more than once. The best out of this lot is Piyush Mishra, only because he is more bearable than the other two.

To make the matters worse along with the shady characterizations, the script itself is a bit icky. No one is interested to watch three old men leaching at a girl who is less than even half of their age.

While the original had a soul in it with three over aged men searching for a soulmate and how their love expedition leads to a sexual fantasy, this adaptation is nowhere near to it and lacks the soul and just presents the leads as lechers.

All in all it's an adult comedy with rare moments which will make you smile, the only highlight being Akshay Kumar's presence.
