Netflix brings out so many new shows and films on a regular streaming basis, it is sometimes hard to keep up. Here are six excellent options to stream during June, for your viewing pleasure.
'Black Mirror' - Season 5 - 5 June 2019
‘Black Mirror’ has returned to Charlie Brooker’s previous habit of releasing only three mini-features for the whole season. They look good though, as the first shows Miley Cyrus starring as a respondent pop star. The second has Andrew Scott playing an Irish taxi driver in London, while the third sees Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II playing two reuniting college pals which could have dire effects on humanity.
'Designated Survivor' - Season 3 - 7 June 2019
US viewers will remember when ABC cancelled “Designated Survivor,” the show where Kiefer Sutherland suddenly became the ‘accidental’ president. Netflix has rescued the show and will be airing the continuing story of Thomas Kirkman, the man who became president when terrorists blew up the Capitol in Washington.
'Tales of the City' - 7 June 2019
‘Tales of the City’ was inspired by Armistead Maupin’s books, but takes the stories a step further. In this story, Mary Ann (Laura Linney) is reunited with her ex-husband and adopted daughter in San Francisco, 20 years after leaving them to pursue her career. She is then drawn in to the circle of people headed by Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis) at 28 Barbary Lane.
'Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese' - 12 June 2019
Martin Scorsese is famous for lionising the rock and roll greats of days gone by, including the incomparable Dylan, during his mid-1970s phase. According to Netflix, the documentary “captures the troubled spirit of America in 1975 and the joyous music that Dylan performed during the fall of that year.”
'Marvel’s Jessica Jones' - Season 3 - 14 June 2019
As Disney takes over all the Marvel shows for its new, competitive streaming channel, there is one last season of “Jessica Jones” to enjoy on Netflix. Sit back and enjoy Krysten Ritter, the sardonic superhero as she rolls for her final season.
'The Missing' - Season 3 - 17 June 2019
‘The Missing’ debuted on ITV earlier in the year, but the third part of the saga is coming to Netflix. Tchéky Karyo plays the role of retired French sleuth Julien Baptiste as he investigates a case of a missing prostitute. Tom Hollander will be seen in the series. Whether seasons 1 and 2 will be available on Netflix is unknown.
