5 films and series streaming on Netflix this week

This action western film is about two gamblers on the run, a tenderfoot from Philadelphia and a deadly preacher. They all have a date with destiny in the town of Big Kill, which used to be a boom town, but went bust.

Anthony Anderson and Uzo Aduba star with Khalil Everage in a school-related drama. A teenager has withdrawn from the world after his sister was killed in a drive-by shooting, but is discovered by the school security guard, who used to have a career in hip hop. Together they join the hip hop scene on the south side of Chicago.

“The Edge of Democracy” is about a democracy in crisis in Brazil. The film covers one of the most dramatic periods in Brazilian history and gives information about past and present leaders. The story includes Presidents Dilma Rousseff and Lula da Silva and their complex past.

This one started streaming last weekend and has had record viewing on the channel. The film involves Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler, playing a New York City cop and his wife on their long-awaited honeymoon trip to Europe. They end up trying to solve a baffling murder on a billionaire’s yacht.

“Dark” season one was a success, leading to a second season of the German sci-fi series heading back to Netflix this week. The time-bending story moves between 1953, 1986 and 2019. This is an international hit show, even though it is in the German language with sub-titles!
