Sevilla 1-2 Barcelona
#Barcelona are back within two points of #La Liga leaders #Real Madrid after a 2-1 victory over Sevilla, thanks to a magnificent Lionel Messi performance in the fast-paced encounter.
Barca had to bounce back from their mid-week defeat in the Champions League to Manchester City.
Messi netted Barcelona's first and then created the second for Luis Suarez, after Vitolo had handed Sevilla a well-deserved lead early on in the first-half.
This victory ensured that Barcelona became the first side to beat Sevilla this season at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, who have now dropped down to fifth.
Meanwhile Barcelona head into the international break in second place in La Liga behind Real, who earlier in the day had extended their La Liga lead to five points.
Real Madrid 3-0 Leganes
The current Champions of Europe beat Leganes 3-0 yesterday afternoon thanks to a brace from Gareth Bale.
The Welshman celebrated committing his future to Real Madrid last week, by striking twice in the space of seven first-half minutes, to help Real cruise to victory.
Alvaro Morata's strike with 14 minutes remaining made sure that all three points remained at the Santiago Bernabeu.
This was Real's first clean sheet in 11 games in all competitions over the newly promoted Leganes. Next up for Real is the El Derbi Madrileno with Atletico Madrid on November 19, the first potential title-changing game that could help decide where the La Liga title will be heading at the end of this season.
Atletico Madrid 2-0 Real Sociedad
Atletico's La Liga title hopes suffered another huge setback on Saturday as two Real Sociedad penalties inflicted a 2-0 defeat.
This defeat means that Atletico are now fourth in the table and six points behind rivals Real Madrid.
Carlos Vela opened the scoring for Sociedad early in the second half from the penalty spot, before Willian Jose converted another penalty 15 minutes from the final whistle to make it three wins on the bounce for Sociedad, who moved up to sixth position in the La Liga table.
Villarreal 2-0 Real Betis
Villarreal took advantage of Atletico slipping up against Real Sociedad to move up into third place in La Liga after beating Real Betis 2-0.
The goals came through Manu Trigueros mid-way in the first half, before Roberto Soriano doubled their lead eight minutes in the second half.
