Since their invention, guns have mostly been used as a means to deliver quick and efficient death. Long gone are the days where you had to learn how to fight and using spears, bows and swords. Learning a skill through years of discipline and dedication to the craft was a necessity when war meant having to fight hand-to-hand.

Nowadays, what one needs is a good reliable gun, basic safety and usage triaging, concealment training (especially when it’s an illegal weapon) and then you’re good to go! Now, if you have a business or work somewhere you are in danger of meeting up with people in gangs — they are after nothing else than your hard earned cash.

They might even go as far as to kill you, or rape.

These gang members were the clients of the 79 illegal firearms which were gratefully caught as they were trying to cross over to London through the Channel Tunnel.

Police collaboration brought on the successful bust

Police have, over the weekend, helped slow down the access to illegal firearms for gangs in London. After a tip off and subsequent joint operation between Scotland Yard and The National Crime Agency (London’s version of the FBI), they were able to catch a yellow Mercedes van which had in it 79 hidden firearms hidden within it.

The firearms were hidden in compartments in the van and they were able to seize it as it was entering the Channel Tunnel to access Britain.

Two men, aged 59 Polish and 23 Czech but living in the U.K, were arrested, they were in the company of four women aged 15, 17, 41 and 58. The four women who are Polish will not face any further charges.

The two men are accused of knowingly being concerned in the fraudulent evasion of a prohibition or restriction on a prohibited weapon or ammunition, and conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life or enable another to do so.

Let's give peace a chance

This is a great thing that the police have managed to do and it is my hope that they continue with their collaborative efforts and if possible get viable leads from the individuals caught, that will lead to seizures and possibly cut off the supply line of these gun and work in getting the ones already in the street under control.

This will, in turn, create an environment that has less crime and violence. Maybe we could give love a try, living in the community, working to a greater end together rather than many small individual ends. Together we are stronger. Let's live lives that deserve living and utilise our talents to be able to change the world to a better place. It is possible and it will be beautiful, a mini-utopia if you will.
