Ballina Big Prawn - 507 River St., West Ballina, Australia

The “World’s Largest Artificial Prawn” stands almost 30 feet in height and weighs almost 40 tons. It was constructed in 2013 on the main highway through the town to promote the local prawning industry. When a bypass was constructed to reroute traffic, the Ballina council wanted to demolish the prawn. However, public outcry and one private investor came to the rescue. The crustacean received a brand-new coat of paint and was moved a short distance down the road.
