Diamond Jubilee Wood - Slaughterford Road, Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland

The Diamond Jubilee Wood was created to commemorate the 2012 Royal Diamond Jubilee, when Queen Elizabeth reached her 60th year on the throne. The area was picked due to its connection to World War I, as it was used as a military aviation facility from 1915 to 1917. Besides the 60,000 trees that were planted, other things are sprouting up all over the wood as it turned into a “Woollen Wood” where the community displays their craft.
