It's uncommon for a mobile Smartphone handset manufacturer to come up with a new model within 6 months, especially when it's a global name like Sony. Sony surprised and actually gave more of a shock to its loyalists with the launch of its latest smartphone Xperia Z3, which is the newest addition to its Xperia legacy after recent Xperia Z2. But the eternal question is, Is Xperia Z3 better than Xperia Z2 and others in its league? Let's investigate the new Xperia Z3.

First and foremost, the ones who have already bought Sony Xperia Z2 should be relieved that they haven't missed out on anything much.

Its immediate competitor in the current market is the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8, both of which make it difficult to make a choice between all 3 of them.

On the exteriors, Sony Xperia Z3 doesn't have those typical Sony square corners; instead it has curved corners which make it look more stylish than its predecessors. While it is available in the vanilla colors of white and black, Sony has given its fans an option of Copper gold which is the signature color of the handset. The brand has made sure with Z3 that it looks different than their earlier smartphones and stands out in the market.

On the performance front, Sony Xperia Z3 can stay in 1.5m deep fresh water up to 30 minutes,.

The volume button is way hard to reach and makes one fidget with the handset. The camera has improved as long as the lens is concerned; it is smooth and not protruding which makes a good handy option for the mobile photography addicts. When it comes to handling the phone, it is easier to handle Z3 as compared to Z2 because of its slim body and round edges.

The screen resolution is 1080x1920 which is quite large and satisfying considering it's a smartphone and not a tablet.

It comes loaded with a 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage space which is expandable up to a whooping 128GB. Other common features like WIFI, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS too mark their presence but are ignorable since they are a pre requisite for any smartphone today.

If you have Sony headset, you can also enjoy noise cancellation feature which is an additional highlight of this phone.

Good news for PS4 gamers is that you can let you use your Sony Xperia Z3 as a handheld console using a combination of the PS4 Dual shock controller and an adapter. With this Xperia Z3 has become the first phone ever to support a PS4 remote play and that too with style. The default camera resolution is 8MP which can be adjusted up to a staggering 20.7 MP which makes Sony claim that Xperia Z3 has the best camera amongst its contemporaries.

All said the one thing Z3 lacks in is being cost effective, price at Rs.51, 990 approximately, it is way too heavy on the pocket. It costs way more than what a Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 or an LG G3 will cost you at similar specifications. Z3 impresses in all fronts but pricing, which may result into a speed breaker for its success.
