South Africa is likely to give a debut cap to Litho Sipamla when they play Pakistan in the first T20I at the Newlands Cricket Stadium in Cape Town on Friday, February 1, 2019.

The match will begin at 6:00 PM SAST, 9:00 PM PKT, 4:00 PM GMT. Both the teams have recently played out a hard-fought ODI series which was eventually won by the hosts 3-2. The visitors are ranked no. 1 in the ICC T20I rankings and would take this series as an opportunity to give a payback to the Proteas.

No. 1 T20 side out on a payback mission

Pakistan has a settled T20I unit and they generally don't make too many changes in their side. Except for Mohammad Amir coming back into the team, there are no changes in the squad from their last T20I squad. Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed will be missing out though, and Shoaib Malik will continue leading the team.

Mohammad Rizwan hasn't played a T20I in over two years and this game would be a comeback for him in this format.

Proteas to play with a slightly inexperienced side

Some new faces have emerged in the South African T20 squad after the Mzansi Super League 2018. Gihahn Cloete could well play his second T20I along with Litho Sipamla who was also impressive in the MSL and received his maiden call-up.

There will be direct competition between him and Junior Dala, and the latter might just edge over him due to his little experience. The Proteas bowling unit is a little less experienced but they could surely stand up and deliver the goods.

Cape Town has not been a happy hunting ground for the Proteas in the shortest format.

According to the Cricbuzz report, they have won just three out of their 17 games. Captain Faf du Plessis and his side will be pumped to change this record on the track which has a nature of slowing up with the slightly older ball. We can still expect a high-scoring game in Newlands with less swing on offer and short boundaries on either side of the wicket. The weather seems to be clear and won't spoil the play in this game.
