The Second Test between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played in Dubai on 24 November 2018. The Pakistanis will try to redeem their pride and put behind their four-run defeat doled out to them by the Kiwis.

The Men in Green have a good record against the Kiwis and out of 56 matches played between the two teams, Pakistan has won 24 times and New Zealand only 11 matches. The rest of the matches have ended in a draw. The two sides had played a Test together in Dubai just once in 2014.

Pakistan lose the first Test

The visitors had only themselves to blame for their shock defeat in the first test.

They were coasting comfortably in what would have been an easy run chase. The score was 130 for loss of four wickets at one stage, and 176 was an achievable target. However, a late order batting collapse saw the Pakistani team short by just four runs from victory.

The Pakistani side had two experienced batsmen in the form of Babar Azam and Azhar Ali who scored 75 and 87 runs respectively. The target was also tantalisingly easy. However what followed was something unexpected. This had been the bane of Pakistani Cricket these days. The Men in Green have failed astonishingly in the past also.

There are significant gaps in the Pakistani batting lineup.

The biggest concern is the failure of the openers Imam ul Haq and Mohammad Hafeez. A solid opening partnership is very vital in the longest format of the cricket, and this will be essential if they want to make a comeback in the Second Test. Pakistan will be hoping that Mohammad Abbas and Haris Sohail will click in the second Test.

Both had bowled well in the first Test and have the confidence of their skipper.

As for New Zealand, their victory in the first test can be credited majorly on the follies of the opposing team rather than own strategy.
