Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, has stated once again that David De Gea will not be leaving for Real Madrid this summer.

The Spanish goalkeeper is constantly being linked with a move to the Bernabeu, however, Mourinho is determined to once again keep his man this summer.

De Gea previously came close to joining Los Blancos in the summer of 2015, however, he stayed at Old Trafford that time, much to the surprise of many.

Back then the world-class shot-stopper signed a new contract, which runs until summer 2019, with the option of a further year, a deal which Mourinho intends for the Spaniard to see out:

“I see him (De Gea) staying here.

I do not know Real Madrid’s intentions but, if I were them, I would think of another player," said Mourinho.

De Gea has become renowned as one of, if not the best, goalkeepers in the world in recent years, after putting in some fantastic performances with the Red Devils over the last few seasons. As a result, it's no wonder that Zinedine Zidane has earmarked the United keeper as a top transfer priority this summer, with his Real side struggling to challenge in La Liga this season.

De Gea will be looking to impress again in the Champions League

Mourinho made his statement about De Gea's future when speaking ahead of his side’s Champions League last-16 second leg against Sevilla at Old Trafford.

The first leg in Spain finished in a goalless draw, such that it's all to play for heading into Tuesday night's game in Manchester.

In the first leg, De Gea was the star of the show, keeping Mourinho's men in the tie, despite a peppering of shots on his goal throughout the first fixture. With both sides desperate to make it into the quarter-finals, De Gea may well be required to produce another sublime performance.

Nevertheless, the 27-year-old has been in fine form this season having kept four clean sheets in the Champions League already this season, as well as 15 in the Premier League, such that Manchester United fans should be confident that the Spaniard can produce another stand-out performance.

De Gea moved to Old Trafford from Real's rivals Atletico back in 2011 after catching the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson and has only gone onto greatness at United.

However, it is unclear as to whether or not De Gea wants the move back to his native country and to the Bernabeu, although there is no greater stage to show off his shot-stopping prowess to the world once again than in the Champions League.
