Antonio Conte's #Chelsea are thought to be plotting a staggering €135m (£120m) bid for Real Madrid's Marco Asensio, in order to beat rivals Liverpool and Arsenal to his signature this summer.

Chelsea have struggled all season in the striker department with Alvaro Morata yet to hit top gear, while Olivier Giroud is still yet to open his account for The Blues. As a result, Chelsea are likely to need to spend heavily again this summer, in order to compete for the Premier League title next season, with Asensio, thought to be top of their wish list.

The Blues are reportedly ready to offer a massive €135m for the Spain international, which if the transfer went through, would make it a British transfer record, surpassing the £89m Manchester United spent on Paul Pogba.

Asensio is a 22-year-old creative midfielder, currently on the books at Real Madrid, however, the young attacker has struggled for first-team opportunities this season.

The Spaniard has been in and out of Zinedine Zidane's first team plans this season, starting just 13 La Liga games so far this campaign. Asensio is thought to be unhappy with his situation this season, such that he is believed to be open to a move this summer to further his first-team opportunities at a top European club.

However, Chelsea fans should still be excited about the opportunity to sign the young forward this summer. Despite his limited opportunities this season, Asensio has still managed to score six goals and provide four assists in those 13 league games this season.

Furthermore, the young star broke into the Madrid first-team last season after having an impressive loan spell at Espanyol, since going on the bag 20 goals in 77 career appearances for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid are looking to cash in, with their own squad rebuild planned this summer

#Real Madrid are themselves planning a major squad overhaul in the summer, such that they could look to cash-in on the unhappy Spaniard in order to fund moves for other players and abide by financial fair play rules.

Zinedine Zidane's side are shock strugglers in La Liga this season, with Los Blancos currently sitting third in the table behind both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. More worrying still for Zidane is the fact that his side are closer to fifth place Sevilla, who currently sit in the Europa League qualifying spot, than Barcelona at the top of the table.

However, Spanish media are reporting that Roman Abramovich is willing to pay the staggering £120m fee, with Florentino Perez wanting to spend heavily himself this summer, to help Zinedine Zidane's struggling side.
