Ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, Manchester United fans have been craving for that success again. That period of domination and excellence is likely to never be repeated in the Premier League again. However, no one would have expected the events that would transpire in the following three years. One trophy in three years may have been expected because of the competitiveness among many teams in England. But the lack of entertaining football has been very apparent. The arrival of José Mourinho was expected to bring instant success but some questionable styles of play.

While success this season may not come true, Manchester United’s mojo is well and truly back.

Victories are giving the performances justice

As we have heard from José in multiple press conferences this season, Manchester United have been performing extremely well with domination of several games. That run of four draws in November, with a victory against Swansea sandwiched between them, did not do justice. The game against Burnley saw a staggering 30 plus shots and even against one of their biggest rivals, Arsenal, they were extremely unlucky to not come away with three points. But, with six consecutive victories in the league must give the team confidence that they are heading in the right direction.

Manchester United have gone on runs like this in previous seasons, but the performances and the manager at the helm gives fans across the world hope that good times are just around the corner.

Superstar players are living up to the hype

Without doubt, the summer transfer window was dominated by the Red Devils and two star players took the headlines.

Zlatan Ibrahimović and Paul Pogba were the standout signings and big things were expected from them. While the Swede has been consistently brilliant this season, the world’s most expensive player has found it difficult to adapt to the Premier League. However, Mr Mourinho looks to have found the perfect formula to give Pogba the stage to flourish.

Throughout their history, United have had brilliant players at their prime performing and winning titles. Cristiano Ronaldo is the most obvious and while Pogba may never reach those heights, he certainly looks like he is on the right path. Furthermore, with players like Ander Herrera and Henrikh Mkhitaryan giving their upmost best for the team, Manchester United can dominate in the years to come.

Long term must be the focus

Of course, for a huge club and brand like Manchester United, Champions League football is almost a must. However, with the dropped points at the beginning part of the season, it looks increasingly difficult for the team to make the competition next season. While they will be desperate to prove the predictors wrong, they must not lose what they have gained in the last few months.

Attacking football and entertainment is something the Old Trafford faithful have not experienced for a long time. Mourinho has delivered that and we can be sure that the fans would like to see this continue for a while yet. They will surely forgive the team’s inability to make the Champions League if they continue to dominate match after match. This must be the Portuguese’s aim for the remainder of the season.
