The first match of the ODI series between India and England will start at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on January 15, 2017. The match is scheduled to start at 01:30 pm IST.
It will be a five-match series and also the first match under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.
2016 was an incredible year with Young Turk Virat Kohli propelling the Indian Team to the top of ICC Test ranking. India has trounced the English to the Point of humiliation. So much so that the English Captain had very caustic comments about Virat Kohli whom he called an incomplete player who excelled only in home turf.
However Virat let his bat do the talking, and it was left to his brethren including former Pakistan Captain Inzamam who showed the English skipper a mirror and said that the same yardstick when applied to English player, the same conclusion can be drawn since they cannot play spin of the subcontinent conditions.
Dawn Of The Virat Kohli Era
India at present is placed third in ICC ODI ranking, and there are no more matches in the Champions Trophy in June. Kohli will keenly like to win this fixture since he does not have any World Cup under his belt till now.
English Captain Eoin Morgan will also be keen to regain some of the lost prestige and try to win a couple of matches. Though ranked fifth, the English side has fresh young blokes who can prove to be a dark horse.
England has not won an ODI series in the last 30 years in India.
Dhoni back as a Wicket Keeper
The Series is also unique because it will be the first real test for Virat Kohli as a captain. It will be interesting to see how Mahendra Singh Dhoni fares with the bat since he will have a big weight off his shoulders as the captain of Indian ODI team.

Weather: Sunny and pleasant conditions with a maximum temperature of 31 degrees. The pitches are generally flat and India will not like to chase big totals as was evident against their matched with the Kiwis where they lost two matched chasing 250+ runs.
