We here at Bollywood Butterfly love Sonam Kapoor - and who could blame us! The talented daughter of legendary actor Anil Kapoor has carved out her own space in the industry as an actress, Fashion icon and philanthropist.
Following her acting debut in 2008 with the film "Saawariya," Sonam has gone on to star in hit films like "Dehli-6," "Aisha" and "Ranjhanaa" and worked alongside some of the biggest names in the industry. Her latest film, "Neerja," has been released to critical acclaim with Sonam winning multiple Best Actress awards for her role.
There is now rumour of her playing the role of Madhuri Dixit in a biopic of Sanjay Dutt.
After being the face of L'Oreal in India, Sonam has recently launched her own brand of womenswear, called Rheson, and is making waves alongside some other prominent Bollywood celebs who have ventured into the world of fashion. What better way for us to celebrate than put together some of Sonam's best looks of 2016. And despite there being so many to choose from, we've managed somehow to narrow them down to our favourites.

Sonam Kapoor Indian fashion
This first look has us in awe with Sonam modelling a Shantanu & Nikhil outfit. A simple hairstyle and minimal jewellery offset the heavy embroidery in a perfect way.
From the military shoulders to the softer fabric of the skirt, Sonam owns the catwalk in this beautiful number.
This next look proves just how well Sonam can do the traditional Indian look. From the setting of the dupatta, the khusseh shoes, ghumka earring and bindi. Sonam looks like a true Indian beauty. This entire look is reminiscent of 50s Bollywood.
Sticking to simplicity, Sonam wears an Anamika Khanna for Diwali and we can't look away! She adds glamour to this understated outfit with a beautiful pearl necklace, earrings and striking eye make-up. The slicked back hair goes perfectly, alongwide the single bracelets on each arm.
Now here's how Sonam does day-to-day. This stylish look combines a simple blue kameez with flowery trousers and brown loafers with matching bag, adding a subtle hint of western influence to this Indian look.
Sonam dons beautiful large earrings to offset the outfit and those sunglasses are to die for. Wow.
The last of Sonam's Indian looks we've chosen is this elegant black saree with a bold blue drape. With slight shoulder embroidery and long earrings, Sonam has this entire look spot on and we think it could easily go down as a quintessential Sonam Kapoor. Perfection!

Whilst campaigning for Hilary Clinton in Arizona, Sonam did politics fashionably in this shirt and trouser combo which adds glamour to the professional look. The gold earrings stand out against the understated look and we believe no one could have pulled this off better!

A silk navy skirt and red shirt with polka dots shouldn't work - but it does! She knows exactly what is right and is never afraid to be bold in her choices. The sleek straight hair and sunglasses make her look other worldly.
Sonam does the girl next door look in the only way she knows how - in pure style. Looking like she's come off a fashion runway rather than an airport, Sonam wears a beautiful shirt with thigh length boots, carrying a simple handbag. This look is enough to stop traffic.
Sonam bowled everyone over at this year's Cannes Film Festival with dresses like this stunning white number. The subtle embroidery was perfect for this eye-catching dress with trails on either side. Accessorized with a simple fabric choker, Sonam knew exactly how to balance simplicity with wow factor.
Last, but by no means least, we have this gothic inspired look which once again shows the daring nature of Sonam's fashion. The beautiful white dress is offset with a black leather waistcoat, black shoes and large gold earrings. Sonam adds the perfect hair bun and black lipstick to make this look unique and eye-catching. One of our favourites!
