THE GOVERNMENT have already had to admit that a recent promise on more school breakfast funding was in fact a repeat rather than a new one after a vague announcement by Education Secretary, Damien Hinds in March, furthermore, a benefits whistle-blower has stepped forward and admitted that the government’s policies are causing genuine vulnerable people going without the help they need.
Leave.EU found themselves in the news recently after posting an image of Sadiq Khan, with the Tweet British multiculturalists feed Islamic fundamentalism. Londonistan, built on the sad ruins of English Christianity”, along with debunkable ‘facts’.
School breakfast and benefit failures
Education Secretary, Damien Hinds, announced on the 19th March that the government would be putting an extra £26 million towards school breakfast clubs, the revenue coming from the Sugar Tax. But Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, Angela Rayner, posed a written question towards the Education Secretary on the 26th March and Hind’s junior minister Nadhim Zahawi admitted that the pledge was made months ago and this was merely a repeat. Further to the announcement, Hinds failed to mention that the £26 million would be spread out over three years, When you break down the details as well, this will be an extra £1 million 2017-2018 and £12.5 million in both 2018-19 and 2019-20, furthermore, it will be just 1p extra per child and this comes on top of the £60 million pledged for school breakfasts in the general election last year, which works out to 7p per child.
In an interview with the Mirror, a benefits assessor has stated that the PIP assessments are more like a conveyer belt. The former benefits assessor today exposes the grim world of the Tories' "unfair” and "ethically questionable" disability regime. Staff have just 15 minutes to read claimants’ medical history before interviewing them for vital Personal Independence Payment (PIP), the whistle-blower said.
The process is such a “relentless conveyer belt” that they skip toilet and lunch breaks - just to get “10 seconds” back in the day. They also stated that the rigid and uneven rules meant that those who blatantly needed help, were denied benefits.
Leave.EU propaganda
Leave.EU posted the offensive message, accompanied by a large picture of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, a mosque and a group of Muslims at prayer.
It claims: “British multiculturalists feed Islamic fundamentalism. Londonistan, built on the sad ruins of English Christianity”. They have become increasingly far-right and resemble more of a neo-Nazi organisation than a campaign to leave the EU since the referendum but the information they provided was completely false. Firstly, the image claimed 423 new mosques had been built but on closer inspection the source is a far-right conspiracy theorist blog called YourNewsWire and they faked the information because it’s not actually a list of new mosques. It’s a list of all the mosques. Some of them were built in the 1970s.
Secondly, it claims 500 closed churches, but this is again from YourNewsWire and the statistics they used are dodgy at best because it is based on a Royal Institute of Surveyors report from 2006, if it were true pinning the blame on Khan then is absurd but it misses important information out.
The figure relates an estimated number of churches in the whole of the UK, which were converted into homes between 2001 and 2006. But the lack of information doesn’t stop there because it doesn’t take into account the number of churches that were open because according to a 2013 survey, around 700 new churches opened in London between the years of 2005 and 2012, with a net increase in the whole of the UK of 2% between 2008 and 2015.
Lastly, they claim there are 100 sharia courts, except there is an immediate problem with this because if you had any knowledge on the subject, you would be immediately drawn to the fact that sharia courts don’t exist. However, what they probably mean is sharia councils and they only arbitrate on religious matters and have no legal jurisdiction overrule British laws.
Furthermore, if what they were on about are sharia councils, there aren’t 100 in London. They claimed they cite the Gladstone Institute report but that particular report has no citation for the information. However, last month the Home Office published an Independent Review into the application of Sharia Law and it states that there is no accurate statistic on the number but estimate it to be between 30 -85. Leave.EU are literally just trying to stir racial hatred towards the Muslim Community in Britain.
