Latest Tamil Film "Petta" has proved that Rajnikanth is not only a superstar but arguably the biggest star in the sub-continent. It will not be out of place to write that the three Khans and Amitabh Bachchan will find it difficult to hold a candle to the South Indian superstar. It was reported by the Times of India that "Petta's" success comes just after two months of the success of his film "2.0."

"Petta" completed a superb week and theatre owners in India are happy. The film is also rocking overseas among the Indian diaspora.

Good collection

The film is well on the way to the Rs 150 crores (16 million GBP) mark.

"Petta" is directed by Karthik Subbaraj but the film is a tribute to Rajnikanth. He puts in a great performance, and it's almost like the vintage Rajnikanth of older days. Rajnikanth's film had stiff competition from "Viswasam", but Rajni's film is much ahead in cinemas outside Tamilnadu proving the superstar has pan India appeal.

The success of the film close on the success of the film "2.0" with Akshaye Kumar has delighted the fans of Rajnikanth, and they are on cloud nine. "2.0" collection went past "Bahubali "but is still a mile behind "Bahubali 2" which was a great hit. The film "Petta" is vintage Rajnikanth, and his fans have loved it. The film has Vijay Sethupati and Bollywood actor Nawaz Siddiqui, but all are dwarfed by the performance of Rajnikanth.

The man doesn't seem to be ageing at all.

The film is also a success overseas, and it has grossed over Rs 14 crores (1.5 million pounds) in the US. This is because Rajnikanth commands a huge fan base in the United States.

Rajnikanth often referred to as Thalaivar has done an energetic role. His swag, charisma, and aplomb have carried the film forward, and his fans are delighted.

The latest releases of the three Khans like "Thugs of Hindostan" have not done too well at box office. In contrast, each film of Rajnikanth has minted money proving he is the biggest superstar in India. The Mint has reported that it was a great attraction during Pongal.

Rajnikanth is toying with the idea of entering politics, but he seems to be in two minds as he has not yet openly announced his entry.

He's sitting on the fence and is going against him as people in Tamilnadu are not sure of his plans. He was probably eyeing the vacuum created by Jayalalitha but not stating his intentions clearly has confused many.

Despite this, the success of "Petta" has put the stamp of a great superstar on Rajnikanth. Probably he will continue acting, and one will have to wait when Rajni may decide to enter the political arena.
